7:30 pm Capoeira Roda

led by Mestre Beija-Flor

The capoeira roda is a Brazilian cultural practice that combines martial art, dance, and music, forming a circle where capoeiristas demonstrate their skills.
Born during the Brazilian colonial period, the capoeira roda was developed by African slaves as a form of resistance and survival. It is characterized by the dynamic interaction between players, who communicate through body movements to the sound of instruments such as the berimbau, pandeiro, and atabaque. The music dictates the rhythm and intensity of the game, becoming an essential element of the roda.
Recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the capoeira roda is a celebration of Afro-Brazilian history, culture, and resistance.
